Motivation? Maybe Just Stick To Master…

motivation or something else

Motivation. Seriously, everybody is shouting from the rooftops that they have it.  The problem is though, that those very people shouting their motivation are often (relatively) speaking. Seriously, how motivated could someone actually be if the majority of their time is spent trying to convince the world of their level of motivation?

You see, the problem here isn’t motivation, it’s attitude. Anyone, can jump up and down and scream “look at me, I’m motivated.” The key for you though is not to try to convince others of your motivation. It’s better to first try to convince yourself.

But let me back up for a second, I tend to jump around sometimes and get a little side tracked, but bear with me. I’m gonna try to lay this out in an organized manner.

Your Attitude Sucks, Change It Don't cry, don't wish, do you.

<—-See pictures and ^^^^ subheadings…getting a little fancy here. But I digress. Most people are starting backward when they get up in the morning. They open their eyes after they’ve hit snooze a few times and then they –if they haven’t hit snooze too many times– think about what their life is like right now, but base it all on the past. They think about how their boss pisses them off, or the bills that they have to pay, the weight they have to lose, and so on and so forth. You know what I’m talking about. All that stuff that makes you NOT want to get out of the bed in the morning.

Try this one on for size. Eckhart Tolle wrote in his book The Power of Now about how the future is an illusion because it hasn’t happened, but so is your past. Your past is also an illusion because even though it did exist, the fact still remains that all that really exist now is a memory. Even what you did 5 seconds ago…straight memories yo. Illusions in your mind.

So where am I getting with all this new agey mumbo jumbo? What do illusions have to do with your attitude? Well my feathered friend, if you aren’t paying attention to RIGHT NOW then you are living in an illusion.  And living in an illusion, for all intents and purposes, is what most would define as insanity, to put it bluntly.

What is most important is what is happening right…NOW…NOW……….NOW…NOW. The point here is that in every moment you have a choice. You can live the world of insanity (which most do, so don’t feel bad) or Now.

So then how do you change the attitude? You start by first being able to focus your mind so that it doesn’t follow every single thought down a thought train. So one way to stop that is to focus on the present. Setting aside some time to meditate is a great way to get practice in staying present to each moment without wandering. And remember, meditation doesn’t necessarily have to be some ritual. You don’t have to lose motivation over a lack of sagebrush in the house. Just check out this method of easy and effective meditation that I use consistently.

Be Strong And Support Others

The very definition of being strong is to be able to lift heavy things up that others normally couldn’t lift or carry. Some do it with weights, some with money, others emotions, but we all have someone we know that is strong in some area or another and could really help others. On the other hand, it’s often hard to recognize strengths when you are paralyzed by fear.

People are born innocent. We have no hopes, no aspirations, no fears. Nothing, just innocence. Somehow along the way, however, we develop the hopes of doing something grand, and we develop fears. We aspire to be great and then we shoot ourselves down. We shoot each other down. It becomes a perpetual cycle because people have no idea what means to truly be strong.

Now I’m not saying to go out and become and saint and help others at the expense of your own well-being. I mean honestly, if that gets you off, be my guest, but I’m gonna tell you this: the key to building up a solid foundation is to first build yourself up. If your goal is to really have a lasting impact and help others, it can’t be so it can cover up an insecurity that you may have about something else. Like, think of it as help because it feels good, not because you’re trying to cover up something else that feels bad.

It really starts with how you choose to frame the world and what type of language you use in it. For instance, if you constantly see the world as a struggle, you are going to use language that reflects that and that subsequently (nice word) leads you to subconsciously commit to actions that would make your perception accurate.

In essence, if you think weak, you will be weak. But on top of that, you never truly help others. Your attention instead of engaging in adapting to an environment (like humans have done for hundreds of thousands of years) is always fixated on how a very small fraction of the universe (you) benefits from each interaction. Every (inter)action, no matter how seemingly powerful, will be transparent as people will see the real motivation for your actions. So in other words, practicing authenticity (honesty) gives you strength to be supportive of someone other than yourself.

Motivation or Master…Looking like a fool with your pants on the ground

Or maybe motivation for masterba…ok never mind. But get this brozilla, sometimes you just don’t feel like it. A lot of people beat themselves up over it. Stop *ahem* beating yourself and maybe join yourself….Ok, that was just weird…

Let’s imagine for a moment, a castle. At the base of the castle, is your attitude. It’s the foundation you build your life on. If that foundation is good, then you can start putting some pretty cool stuff on it. Eventually, that stuff becomes motivation.

Motivation is good, it can help you get stuff done. But that’s not where it stops. Nope, not even. From there you continue building your motivation till it becomes inspiration. Now you go out and crush it and you inspire others to do it as well. Not, because they see you running your head through the walls. It’s because they see WHY you are running your head through the wall and they want to do it with you because they believe in you.

The best way to start the path to motivation is to start the path to health. And I’m not talking about losing 5 pounds in five days. Or the latest cleanse, or tablets, or whatever the hell people are trying to peddle as “healthy lifestyles” these days.

What I’m talking about here is Family, Fitness, Fun, and Fulfillment. Consider practicing making that your frame for your future thoughts. This will lead to actions that ensure that you will ALWAYS be motivated.

Hack Your Goals With Passwords

brainwash hack skinny

Ok here it is. The ultimate brainwashing life hack.  This isn’t gonna take long so try not to blink.  In fact, you should blink now just in case. Ok you ready to learn how to use your computer to achieve all your goals?

I’ve actually written before about the science that backs this up here actually would like to preface this with a quick story about how I personally lost 30lbs. Don’t worry, it has everything to do with the life hack.  So a little while back I got this heart rate monitor for my gym. It was cool, it showed your calories burned and your exertion rate and it assigned you points base on some algorithm the company decided on.

Long story short, the belt lets you decide your nickname. As I’m opening up the package, I’m thinking about what my awesome nickname was gonna be. I decide on “awesomest person ever,” but unfortunately it’s too many characters. (Sounds like Thanksgiving at my house)

So I decide on “Fatkid.” I thought of it as a sort of motivation. It worked as motivation alright…I gained 15 pounds within 6 months of getting the belt. Not kidding, briznit, I put on a small toddler. After months of soul searching I decide to change the nickname by one letter to “Fitkid” and poof…magic. Lost 15 and then some!

So what’s the hack? Well check this out, you use your computer, right? You type in passwords to any website repeatedly? Like maybe your email, or bank accounts? Change your password today! Change it to a goal you have like “lose5pounds” or “make10000moredollars” (neither of those is my password, by the way, so no worry) and watch how you brainwash yourself into achieving your goals by tricking yourself into writing them down daily.

Pretty cool right? If you think so, leave a comment down below. I would greatly appreciate it, but either way, thanks for reading!

How To Live The Life You Deserve

Live it up they say. (They meaning the epicureans) That was the life they chose to live. It was a life focused mainly on material possessions and the old Drake saying “Y.O.L.O.” It was kind of amazing that they lived as long as they did and so their beliefs have stood throughout time as a shining of example of “not giving a fuck.”

But wait, that can’t be it, because around the same time there were a few characters around that called themselves the stoics. They wouldn’t do anything that pleased them. It was almost as if abstaining was a pleasure to them. They were like buddhist and hindu monks that never partake in any type of pleasure.

Needless to say, these two opposing beliefs existed and coexisted leading to create some of our modern day tenets of religion.

Ok enough with the history lesson, I just needed to provide a little backdrop for this knowledge I’m bout to drop on you about how I discovered the secret to time travel. Time travel?! Really? Ok I just had to get your attention. Not, time travel, but something close…

The Good Life

You see as my boy Tai Lopez says all the time. “Everyone’s looking for the good life, but not everyone gets the good life.”  It’s pretty clear cut, we all know someone who clearly isn’t living up to their potential, but I want to talk about what stops most people from getting there.

The biggest problem that most people face today is that they are living in the future. In today’s fast pace world where we rarely have to wait for anything, we’ve become brainwashed to believe that if we don’t see, hear, or feel anything that it’s not worth our time and people for the most part have been dabblers in finding what makes them happy.

I don’t have time to go into detail, but I do want you pay attention to this next phrase and see if you recognize it.

I’ll be happy when ________

That was my mantra while I hustled and grinded and withheld everything from myself until I went just about crazy sedating with booze, porno, and other things I wouldn’t want mamma bear to know about. Then when I’d get those things, I’d feel so empty and the only way I’d get out of my funk was by planning the next “thing” I wanted to get.

This applies to a lot of people and I’m sure you can even identify a point in your life where you’ve all but given up and you just kept hoping that the future would get better.  Well it doesn’t unless you do this ONE thing….

Protect your confidence at all costs!

How do you do that? Well I’ve run out of time here, but I would love to chat with you about about it. Email me here or leave a comment in the space provided below.

P.S. The reason why I chose that moniker for today is because living the good life is a fine balance of building confidence and building discipline. It’s not easy, but there are a few simple tricks and tips that I’ve learned that have taken me (and will take you if you ask) to the next level in terms of everyday performance and value I feel I’m giving to the world.  You wanna pick up some of what I’m laying down? Just shoot me an email. That simple. Talk soon…
