Time + Effort = ?

value, time

Hey, d’ja miss me? Gone for a day and I get a random text from someone telling me that I forgot to post today lol! I’m glad to see that my lack of presence is well accounted for (at least by one person) That’s actually what I wanted to talk about today. No, not that one person, but what we sometimes get (or don’t get) as a result of the use of our time.

I’ll try to make this one short. I realize that my passion sometimes gets the best of me. So I’ll cut right to the chase…

As I am sitting here after just returning from the hospital, I thinking about my grandma. I think about how granny bear is laying there right now, breathing her last breaths and I wonder what’s next. You, see granny bear lived a pretty hard life and as my family is getting ready to prepare for her passing, I’m getting a little uncomfortable.

The thing is, she was a VERY good person. You like one of those people that went to church every day and would give the shirt off her back to anyone. In fact, I believe she’s done that once or twice. But what makes me uncomfortable is the fact that although she had the best attitude about just about everything and everyone, she still could have had more.

Is it really worth the time?

My grandmother was always poor. My mom used to tell me stories about how she used to boil water in the community cooking area back in Jamaica so the other neighbors didn’t notice when the didn’t have anything to eat. And that’s fine, everyone has their struggles, but the problem is that she kept that mindset throughout her life.

The thing I’d like you to consider here is that although she worked hard and put a A LOT of time in at work (16 hour days until she was 65) she still remains in the same tax bracket. Why?

One word…mindset.

You see if your mindset is set to expect to gain little in exchange for hard work, then that’s exactly what you’ll get. You’ll work your butt off, but something will always be there to hold you back. It’s a little something that some call the law of attraction, others just call it getting what you deserve.

Some people would say if you put in the hard work and enough time, you  DESERVE everything you get. And that’s true because if you’re suffering along the way then that’s what you’ll get back…more suffering.

So in closing I’m gonna end this one with a profound statement (if I do say so myself).

You can’t suffer your way to success/happiness/fulfillment.

Read that again brozilla ^^^^^

What you put in is always what you get out (plus interest). So if you want greatness your only option is to work to be great.

Fear = Dishonor

Fear is a mountain

There are so many things out there that we don’t understand. I for one, could not figure out how to use Google analytics for the life of me. So yesterday I sat down, determined to figure out what in the world I could do to understand all those numbers and abbreviations. And what it added up to was fear…

Let me fill you in on what I mean. After about an hour, I came across something amazing. I found that I had quite a few people going to my site, but I was quickly disappointed when I went followed the links to where they went.

You see, I came across four (4) blogs around the world that were pretty much using this blog for fodder. They would read what I wrote, put my words down and then throw their own spin on it.

The thing is, I’m not upset that when people copy. In fact, I’m honored, the problem is that these people didn’t even approach me. And it’s not really even that, the real issue is why…

You see the reason WHY I write these DAILY blogs is to reach out to people. I want us to discuss issues that affect us all. I am reaching out because I would like to start a conversation about these subjects. It’s not for you to read and then go on about your way.

So lurkers. plagiarists, and all you first time visitors, listen up! I’m not mad, (it takes a lot more than that) but I want you to consider something. The only reason why we dishonor ourselves or anyone else is not because we are bad people set on sucking whatever value possible from whomever. No it’s not because we are bad, but it’s because of fear.

Fear of putting your OWN voice out there.

Of what people will think

That you just might not be good enough

But honestly, broham the longer you project something you’re not the longer you will live in fear. So if you truly want to make a difference in the world with your words and your thoughts, make sure that they are genuinely your own.

Knowing Your Potential

Greatness revealed

You know, we aren’t so different you and I. We both want to live up to our potential, spread and receive love and most importantly, make some sort of impact on the world.

It’s not always easy however, with a limited perspective. You tend to notice these things when you meet people from different countries.

One of my neighbors is an immigrant that is here from China. He recently moved here, but the insight he has made me a proud American. He too believes that our country is great and the reason why is pretty amazing.

I know you don’t have a ton of time, so I’ll try to make this sociology lesson quick. Chris, or least that’s what he goes by, was telling me how China has so much more of a competitive culture than America.

You see, China has over a BILLION people, but they have all their resources gathered in two big cities. Beijing and whatever the other big city in China is…Shanghai, that’s right.

Imagine that would be the equivalent of having everyone in America AND Canada AND Mexico essentially trying to live in New York or San Francisco and everyone in the middle was dirt poor.

I really never knew that about that country and it really gives you an idea of what’s going on out in the real world.

So I’ll leave you with this today. Whether you believe your way is the right way or not, you can never truly understand what it is to live as someone else unless you truly become someone else, which of course is impossible. That being the case, your best bet would be to just learn as much as you can from those around you. The potential benefit of learning from them –both in what to do and what NOT to do– may help you to gain a little more insight into your own life.

P.S. I encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and do something that you wouldn’t normally do. Whatever it is, it doesn’t have to be crazy just maybe something that makes you challenge the way the you normally do things.
