Competitive: To Be Or NOT To Be

Hands down, the answer to this question is absolutely unanimous. I mean seriously you’re reading this RIGHT NOW because of the fact that competition exists. The whole basis of human creation is based on the males (and their man juice) to be competitive when courting a lady. Not to mention the actual act of conception where the aforementioned man juice fights to be the one to relocate and well, the rest is history.

So why do people avoid competition? Why are so many people afraid of bumping heads with someone? To tell you the truth, social norms have led us to stop pushing each other in lieu of cooperation. Which, in itself, is not a bad thing, but often times what happens is that one side tends to slack off or in some cases, take advantage.

We can all recall a time when you were working with someone and all of a sudden they weren’t pulling their own weight. They would make excuses for poor performance or simply settle for a mediocre result. If you can’t think of a time, then you might be that other person.

I digress…

What I’m saying here is that although fighting is not always necessarily good, competition is something that we all experience in everyday life. Don’t fool yourself, every single one of use NEEDS TO be competitive in some way or another. There are limited resources, but if we compete, (rather than fight) the likelihood that we will innovate is inevitable.

So those of you that think we don’t need to be competitive. I think you need to wake up because the world around you is a very competitive world. The best thing to do is to put your big boy/girl clothes on and compete. Because honestly, briznit, no one can exist without competition, even if it’s only competing against herself.

P.S. I just want to make something clear, I’m not advocating fighting. That’s something completely different. Even so, a good-natured debate or a test of wit and skill in something physical is not out of bounds. All I’m getting at here is that you should never allow yourself to live the status quo your whole life. Yes, there are times when it’s useful but for the most part, I think it is important to navigate where you need to diverge from the path and carve your own trail. Talk soon…

A Better Way

Yesterday, I went on a bit of a tirade about shaming.
Everyone does it, but why? Is it something we are programmed to do?
No, actually it’s not.
You see mon ami, the reason why people shame is because they are so empty from
Trying to find fulfillment in ineffective ways that the only thing that most
People can do to have any kind of self worth, is to shame others.
Most people, when they shame others, aren’t really coming from an intention
Of helping someone, it’s really that they are suppressing something from shame
From their own past and they might actually identify with what they are shaming.
It’s actually pretty prominent and I can prove it.
Take Donald Trump for example…
Whatever your political affiliation, you cannot deny who our president is.
But he represents something that I think has been happening for some time now.
Barack Obama, arab spring, Brexit, the Donald…all are clear indicators that people
Are looking for change and are getting more aggressive in looking for it.
You see, when you take the time to shame others (as the Don has) you take
Time away from improving yourself. I mean look how much time he actually
Dedicated to golfing instead of doing his job (which is in a way, kinda nice)
But I digress…
There is a better way and it is to honestly take an introspective look at your own
Life and find out what needs to be improved, while paying less attention to the
Obvious faults and missteps of others.
It’s pretty much one of the main staples of my teaching and training.
At the General Fitness Company we are mastering fitness in a
Brand new way by taking it past chicken and broccoli and into

Change never starts in the mind, it starts in the heart and only ends when
You believe that your power becomes in line with your potential.

P.S. A lot of people believe that self improvement is for people that really need it.
I would have you consider that self improvement is something that we all really
Need to undergo on a daily basis. It’s not enough to say you have this degree
Or that certification, or even X years of experience.
If you aren’t constantly trying to improve the past means nothing.
