You know, I wonder about people sometimes. I’ve been getting feedback from a few different people over the past few weeks and I’ve come to a conclusion. Giving up might just be the right thing to do for some people. Give me a few moments and I’ll explain what I mean. Face it, for some, it’s time to give up. Most people believe there are 24 hours in the day and while that may be true, once you factor in all the things like eating, sleeping, work, and entertainment, you’re left with a lot less time than that. What am I getting at here? Well, the thing that determines who wins or loses, a lot of time, depends on how people use their time. Granted, you can’t avoid things like eating and sleeping, but let me fill you in on an interesting fact. The average American man spends 5.5 hours watching television programming on any given day and women spend a little less at 4.8 hours. You might be saying to yourself, but I don’t watch t.v., but we’re gonna account for screen time to make this more relatable to our current reality. That’s counting, of course, reading emails, checking social media, or even watching my favorite Netflix show, The Office. Screen TimeThink about it. If Americans were to just cut their screen time in half that would equal over 700 more hours of time to actually get stuff done. That’s the equivalent of working 10 weeks straight at 70 hours a week…could you imagine what you could get done in that time??? The point here is that maybe more people need to stop staring at their screens and do more real work. Hold yourself accountable. If you don’t get something done, the first place to look is at your free time. It just might be time to give up some of that screen time to be a little more productive. So many people say they don’t have time, but I’d have you consider that they simply aren’t using the time that they have very effectively. It’s simply a matter of giving up a little of that fun time now, so you can have exponentially more of in the future…Talk soon! |
